Terms of Service

Last updated: 27 June 2026

These terms govern your use of TaxHalo, a tax-guidance software service provided by Invasive Security Limited (“TaxHalo”, “we”, “us”, “our”). By creating an account or subscribing to a paid plan, you agree to these terms.

If you are a consumer (using TaxHalo for personal tax purposes rather than as a business), additional statutory protections apply — these are highlighted throughout.

1. Who we are

Invasive Security Limited
(trading as TaxHalo)
Email: support@taxhalo.co.uk

2. The service

TaxHalo is a software tool that helps you organise your finances and estimate your UK tax position. It is not a regulated financial adviser, accountant, or tax agent. The information it provides is general guidance, not personalised tax or legal advice. For advice specific to your situation, consult a qualified professional.

We aim for the service to be available 24 / 7 but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We will notify you of planned maintenance where reasonably practicable.

3. Subscription plans and pricing

TaxHalo is available on the following plans:

Plan Price Billing
Free £0 No card required
Essentials £3.99 / month Monthly, billed in advance
Growth £12.99 / month Monthly, billed in advance
Growth Duo £9.99 / month per person Monthly, billed in advance — two linked accounts, each billed separately
Pro Contact us Bespoke

All prices are inclusive of VAT where applicable. Prices may change; we will give you at least 30 days’ notice of any increase. Continuing to use the service after the change takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the new price.

4. Payment and billing

Paid subscriptions are billed monthly in advance via Stripe. By subscribing, you authorise us (via Stripe) to charge your payment method on each renewal date.

If a payment fails, your account enters a grace period of up to 7 days. During the grace period you retain full access to your current plan. If payment is not received within 7 days, your plan is automatically downgraded to the Free tier. We will email you before and after any such downgrade.

5. Cancellation and downgrade

You may cancel or downgrade your subscription at any time through your account settings. The change takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You will not be charged for the following month. You retain access to your current plan’s features until the period ends.

5.1 Refunds

Monthly subscription fees are non-refundable once a billing period has begun, except:

  • Where required by law (see §6 below for consumer cancellation rights).
  • Where we have materially failed to provide the service as described and you have notified us within 14 days of the failure.

Downgrades from a higher plan to a lower plan (for example Growth to Essentials) do not attract a pro-rata refund; the lower price simply applies from the next renewal.

6. Consumer cancellation rights (Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013)

If you are a consumer (not purchasing for business purposes), you have the right under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 to cancel your subscription within 14 days of the date you first subscribed (“the cooling-off period”).

However, because TaxHalo is a digital service and you will generally begin using it immediately, you may be asked at the point of subscription to confirm that:

  • You agree to us providing the service immediately; and
  • You acknowledge that this means your statutory right to cancel within the cooling-off period is waived once the service has begun.

If you do not make that acknowledgement, or if we fail to provide the required pre-contractual information, you retain your right to cancel within 14 days and receive a full refund. To exercise this right, contact support@taxhalo.co.uk.

7. Digital content — Consumer Rights Act 2015

Where TaxHalo is supplied as digital content to a consumer, it must meet the quality standards set out in the Consumer Rights Act 2015: it must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described.

If the digital content we supply does not meet these standards, you have the right to a repair or replacement. If repair or replacement is not possible, you may be entitled to a price reduction or a refund.

We exclude, to the fullest extent permitted by law, any liability for loss of data, indirect losses, or consequential losses arising from use of the service. This exclusion does not apply to death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

8. Your data

You retain ownership of all financial and tax data you enter into TaxHalo. We process it only to provide the service to you. See our Privacy Notice for full details.

You may export your data at any time from your account settings. On account closure, we will provide an export and then delete your data in accordance with our retention policy (set out in the Privacy Notice).

9. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • Use TaxHalo for unlawful purposes or to facilitate tax evasion.
  • Attempt to access another user’s data.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of TaxHalo.
  • Resell or sublicense access to TaxHalo without our written consent.

10. Intellectual property

All intellectual property in the TaxHalo service (including software, design, and content) is owned by or licensed to Invasive Security Limited. Nothing in these terms grants you any ownership of or rights in that intellectual property, beyond the right to use the service as described here.

11. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, fail to pay, or if we are required to do so by law. Where we terminate for our own commercial reasons (rather than your breach), we will give you 30 days’ notice and refund any prepaid subscription fees for the unused period.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any dispute arising from them is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, without prejudice to your statutory right (as a consumer) to bring proceedings in the courts of your habitual residence if that is in Scotland or Northern Ireland.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you by email at least 30 days before any material change takes effect. Continuing to use the service after the effective date constitutes your agreement to the revised terms. If you do not agree, you may cancel before the change takes effect at no extra cost.
